Collin, een veroordeeld crimineel, worstelt zich door zijn laatste dagen reclassering heen. Hij werkt samen met zijn beste vriend en heethoofd Miles voor een verhuisbedrijf in Oakland in de Bay Area. Wanneer hij 's nachts ongeduldig staat te wachten bij een rood stoplicht, is Collin getuige van een incident waarbij een blanke agent een zwarte burger neerschiet. Deze gebeurtenis blijft in zijn hoofd rondspoken terwijl Miles steeds verder ontspoort en daarmee Collins goede voornemens en zelfs zijn vrijheid op het spel zet.
